Joseph Harris speaks to law students at the Fordham University School of Law about some of the wage-hour pitfalls that most commonly affect start-ups, including failure to recognize that salaried employees may still be entitled to overtime, misclassification of employees as “contractors,” the New York Wage Theft Prevention Act and its notice and pay stub requirements and penalties, and the concept of “suffered or permitted to work” under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Stern School of Business.  SS4G It is an executive business education program designed for Minority-and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE), as well as media, entertainment, and technology firms, that want to grow their business.  SS4G is presented in collaboration with the NYC Department of Small Business Services, the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Citi Community Development, the NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business’ W.R. Berkley Innovation Lab, and the NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business’ Entertainment, Media and Technology Program.  Joseph Harris and Evan White have been honored to serve as SS4G’s Guest Lecturers on Employment Law since 2011.
